On Saturday Mike and I were walking down Main St. passed a Yard Sale. I saw a rainbow of something in the corner of my eye but kept on walking. Mike said, "Did you see those bowls?" and pulled out $6 dollars from his pocket and said, "Do you want them?" Of course! It's fun to see such cool things and to be able to get them without breaking the bank. I don't want to put them in the cabinet...they are so pretty and they are very heavy/hard plastic. Oh and go check out the new website for the Windsor Station Pub. Awesome work Mck!
I was working on a new Ad for the Merc yesterday. They were quite the posers. Pretty Funny. Speaking of rumors, Yes, the Larsons have several things going down in town but the rumors that we hear sometimes are SO funny. Some of my personal favorites have to be that we are building a helicopter pad in town, that our church is funding all our projects, or the time someone interjected in a conversation when said rumors were being talked about, "oh you mean the Muslim family?" At least they got the M, I guess. I find it all very entertaining.
The weather has really cooled down. Summer last week, Autumn this week. Mike went up to Canada for work so after dinner with McK and little man M, I went next door to get me an Eddie fix. Missy Moosey was pretty darn cute too. When you ask her what she hears she puts her hand to her eye but like it was to her ear. Ahhh yes.
I wish I knew what we were in the midst of saying..we have the same face...funny.
Sunday afternoon Liz, Pete, Mike and I drove down my memory lane. We wandered our way up to Barnard (where my family lived for 11 years), past our family home which has radically changed, along the back roads that we lived and played along. It was an ideal place to grow up and made me a bit homesick for those years of wood wanderings and carefree nights.
After some time on the dirt roads we made it back to the pavement and headed over to Sharon, VT and up to the Memorial where I grew up going to church. It was a lovely late afternoon with perfect light and air. These are the sort of summer days I love being in.
I started the race off and make really dumb poses for the camera. Pretty sure the girl in the red shirt went to my high school.
This one is particularly cool.
Oh dear.
The first hand off to Jim hidden behind the women in purple. Came in with about a 9 minute mile (great for me)
Jim was off for his 6.4 miles. He rocked it up with under an 8 minute mile.
The hand off to McK. She rocked it up in the rain for 3.6 miles
We did it!
After we ran the half marathon in June we were all on a running high and McK, her dad, and K80 signed up to be a team for the CHaD half marathon that benefits the Children Hospital at Dartmouth . September came pretty quickly and K80 asked if I could run her 3 mile leg when her asthma kicked up a fuss. The temperature had risen by the end of last week but the rain came just in time for the run on Saturday. We were soaked through and through and that included Liz, Pete, and Mike who came to watch. I haven't run much this summer and am SO glad I only had 3 miles to run. We ran the 13.2 miles in 2 hours 3 minutes. It was good (but wet) fun!
It is hot here! This is what I remember Vermont summers being like when I was a kid. Monday was Labor Day here ( we actually took it off!) and we all made our way to McK's parents' pool and it was great. I think we thought the pool days ended in August but they seem to be revving right up. If we are lucky, we might get another one before Autumn sets in. I never come away from these days with many pictures of us because the little people are just so irrestible to the lens.
Last Saturday, Liz, Pete, Lucy, JD, K80, kids, Mike, and I went over to one of the neighboring towns to these very cold swimming holes in the creek. You hiked down from the road and there were 4 or so different little holes. It wasn't as hot out as it has been which made the freeze of the water even more intense; you can see it in our faces. Lucy and JD jumped in several times but it was just too cold for me (I know, wimp.) It was a fun last adventure with Lucy. ( I love that last picture of JD).
Yesterday, while Liz and I were away Brimfield, the largest Antique/Flea Market in the States, Mike and Pete took our house to a very new place.
Dining Room Before Looking back to Porch (where new doors are) Dining Room Before Looking through to Kitchen
Kitchen Before Looking to nothing. In Progress (See the new doors in the back and taking out that one wall) Silly that I thought it would stop with that :) Last night what Liz and I came home to. I just went right to bed and had a good sleep before checking out in the morning. Mike assessing this wall before ripping it down with his bare hands. Almost. My new kitchen. Now when you walk in, you can see straight through to the Lake. There is so much more light and space with those acoustic tiles out the ceiling and Mike and Pete uncovered some very cool old beams.
We had planned on making some of these changes but Mike went ahead and jammed it out. He is an unstoppable force when it comes to these sorts of projects. The pictures don't show how nice it is to have the light steam through but it is so cool to walk in and see all the way to the Lake from the whole downstairs. I wasn't quite ready to begin living in an" incessantly dusty renovating in progress" house but here we go. Glad we didn't spend the time stripping that wall paper !
