16 months & 3 1/2!

It's been a long while since I have actually said anything about the kids and the older they get, the cooler they are and I want to have it written down somewhere, mostly for me. Our little gal, is so fiery. It's true, she lives up to the redhead spirit. She talks a lot and is actually pretty easy to understand. Well, not in words but she communicates very well for not really talking. Let me try and make a list of words she says, or we can understand what she is trying to say although she seems to understand everything we say to her

uh-oh (her first a long time ago), thank you, apple, dadee, mama, water, pretzel, blankie, milk, more, all gone, play doh, block, Lars, two, bike, book, ball, nose, dance, cracker, bath, lotion, diaper

She tries to do most things her brother does and is pretty daring. She warms up to people pretty quickly but is still quite attached to me if I am in the room. She is at that delicious phase where they are cuddly, and snuggly, but not talking so much. She screams a lot too but it's still cute because she really lets it roar for a wee thing.

Oh our boy...he is really emerging into the coolest little guy. He talks a lot and more clearly. This morning, he got into bed with Mike and started singing "You are my sunshine" and Mike said it was the cutest thing ever and tried to bribe him with pizza at lunch to do it again. He is very into trucks, machines, racing his bike, and painting but he is doing a lot more imaginary play too. This morning he had a pretend dog with him and yesterday he handed me my ipod and told me Bob wanted to talk to me. When I asked who Bob was he said, "Bob, the builder".

He can count into the 20's but not really in a row. Actually he thinks he can count to 100. He likes to do dancing and fighting moves. He's very sweet to his sister minus the occasional hitting.

Bummer, our girl is waking up and I don't want to hold off posting this until she wakes up because it will never get done.

That's better than nothing :)

November in pictures

The kids are getting big and are kind of crazy. We are gearing up for the holidays and very excited to see Pete & liz and Lucy in a few weeks. They are both on the go all the time. I permed my hair because I was feeling like channeling my hair of my childhood. I actually really like it. The snow hasn't come but it is cooooold. We are glad to have our woodfire roaring and that everyone is relatively healthy.

I was asked to contribute to a blog every week as the "creative mom".

My friend, Nathaniel is also raising money for a very cool project he is working on.

One year, One month.

She is looking so much older to me these days. Her hair is getting all shaggy around the ears and sometimes if its wet, it's all curly. I think my favorite thing about her right now is how she is with her brother. They bring the best and worst out of each other and it's hilarious to watch. These three pictures show this perfectly. Lars loves annoying her and she gives it right back. Then the love giving big kisses and hugs. Roxcy fully gives the open mouth kisses...The other day I heard Lars say, "Rocky bit me" and then he came over and, sure enough, she had sunk her four little teeth into his cheek with marks to show for it. It's not just her brother who can bring it.

They're the best.

Her birthday.

Her birthday was nearly a month ago now. Here are a few pix from the day. Lani & Rob were visiting for the weekend so we got them to take a few fleeting family pix for us by all the wood that is going to keep us toasty this winter. We still have half of it to stack. Later in the afternoon, our friends brought their little girl over to celebrate with some homemade pizza and cupcakes. Nothing fancy but a fun day to celebrate us making it through her first year. First years are tough and, pat on the back, we did it :)
