Almost Exasperated.

Not that I am meaning for this to turn into a pregnancy forum but it does seem like the fastest way to get opinions on the matter.

I am having a hard time sleeping. I am a back sleeper through and through so not being able to sleep on my back is hard and is causing some knots in the middle of my back which are causing tightening up my spine into my neck causing headaches. I think it is time to get one of those body pillows. I have looked on line at the Boppy, the snoozer, the snuggle, and the snoogle (all very real names that inhibit any immediate purchase on my end) and each get some loves and hates.

Thoughts from anyone I know before I invest in one of these or before I start becoming seriously exasperated by this lack of comfortable sleep.

There are people who specialize in pregnancy massage. That may be an option.
I just put a regular pillow in between my legs and then took another one and put it up against my back. The third was for my head.
I am normally a side sleeper that rolls on my back, so I feel your pain.
You can also fill an old sock with rice, tie a knot in it, put it in the microwave and rest it on your back. Don't do this for very long, but for a couple of minutes, it might ease some of the tension.
If you want one of the long body pillows, just get one from Walmart or Kohls and make your own custom pillowcase. Don't spend tons of money. The boppy is better for nursing then sleeping, I think.

And by the way...get used it! Honestly, you may not sleep well again for a really, really, really long time. I LOVE YOU!

I couldn't afford to splash out on a full length body pillow during any of my 20 pregnancies. I got used to it to the point that I became a bonafide tummy sleeper only to have to sleep on the tums all 9 months. It was like sleeping on a swiss ball. Or, if you can't change your dirty back sleeping ways, I did the same thing, regular pillows stuffed all around.

I am side sleeper - and always have been! And, 32 years ago they didn't have those cool looking pillows...

But, I tend to agree with Normal Mom - and suggest that instead of spending all that money of those cool looking pillows - that you regular pillows like she suggested. And, do get a massage from someone who specializes in pregnacy massage...

The rice in sock thing works really well too. I use some things I made out of fabric filled with rice...and heat them in the micro...I use them all winter long just to stay warm....

But, again don't use it for a long period of time - what with being pregnant...

I'm a side sleeper but during pregnancy, especially the last one, found myself wanting to sleep on my back a lot more (which is weird, because ordinarily i can't STAND sleeping on my back). However i got really uncomfortable no matter which way i slept. try putting a regular pillow under your lower back, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Also i think all the terrible sleep you have during pregnancy is there to prepare you for the terrible sleep you'll have with a baby, so I guess you could look at it as a blessing. I found myself getting up to go to the toilet at 3am every night for at least the last 3 months and sure enough, baby arrived and wanted to be fed every night at 3am. Clever.

Oh the joys and whoa's of bringing a life into this world. Hailey got a massage several times during her pregancy it really helped. Good luck with the pillows they help too.

Get a pregnancy massage. Perhaps go to a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy ajustments (I have a friend who did this and swears by it).

I used a pillow between my knees...but honestly I wasn't really comfortable at all from month 4 until the end. Sorry...just the price we pay :)

I now have a snoogle--Chelle's old Snoogle and will use it tonight and see how that goes. But I am getting used to the lack of sleep.

thanks for the thoughts.
