Oludeniz...what a day.

Every since I got our Turkey travel book I had seen pictures of Oludeniz and it looked divine but as the dolmus got closer and closer, I was sure we were headed to hell. After leaving Fethiye bus depot we headed up a road that took us to an area jam, and i mean jammed, packed with restaurants, souvenirs shops, and hotels. I felt like I was in Florida. It was completely catered to the British tourist and we soon came to find out, that this is where the British tourist comes. It gave me the shakes but the bus continued to an even worse wasteland of the same but with more eateries, hotels, and shops...everywhere, but they had a beach and this was Oludeniz. You don't see this part in the guidebook nor do you see the old men in speedos or topless older women. Hey, do what you want...that's cool. But all that skin was a shock! and all that white skin being fried in the sun. AAAAAAAaaaack! Unfortunately we got in at noon and our dolmus up to Faralya didn't go until 5 so we had a loooong wait. I couldn't even people watch afraid of what my eyes might behold. But there were heaps of Paragliders....and they landed right on the beach and sometimes on the beach. I know I may sound shallow and mean but we saw some pretty tacky and tasteless looking tourists. Steer clear. Now when we see someone who is looking a little tacky, we call them a "Loody" after Oludeniz.
