I haven't been in the States for 4th of July since 2003 so I sort of forgot what goes on, especially in small town Vermont. My family was never big on the 4th but all the women-folk took the kids to a parade in the next town over. A small town parade usually consists of...
Kids from the local elementary school riding down the road all star spangle bannered up, the local drumming squad ( I like the kid in the back farside),
a truck painted like a cow (of course),
the local real estate agent on top of his car with a water gun,
some Mustangs (love this car. I have a secret love of muscle cars),
and the anticipation of the firetrucks throwing candy! They see 'em coming and are poised and ready to run out...
There were about 10 firetrucks from all the local town Volunteer Fire Departments and
Max was ready to get whatever they threw out!
Dressed in their red, whites, and blues.
Holding on to Grandma's finger.
