We boarded the ferry and sat on the top deck to be out in the fresh air. It was a 2 hour ride as this ferry didn't move real fast. When we left Turkish waters they took down this flag

and put up this one so our time in Turkey was officially over. It was a fantastic trip, a favorite county discovered, and remarkeable memories made.

We made it to Samos where we caught our 16 hour ferry to Athens. Samos was a pretty place but we just hung around, checked our email, burned a CD of pictures, and waited really. We figured that we's wait to explore Greece with everyone else and we were just exhausted really. Kusadasi was a bit too much and we stayed a bit too long but I was feeling under the weather and it was convenient so I think the last few days, although we could have see whole lot more, were nice and relaxing. I finished "for Whom the Bell tolls" and we discovered the Barber and had a good time.

Turkey was really fantastic. Easy to travel around, great people, almost magical feel to it. We left a few days early to Athens...mostly because we ran out of money and due to this Cristos (the boat owner) didn't have a boat we could stay on so we made it to Athens at 6AM, found our way to what seemed to be close to the action, and wandered until we found a place to stay. I was almost sure we weren't going to find anything but we found a great A/C room with double bed and bathroom for 40 Euros a night. Sure, it was more than were used to, but great for Athens. I was exhausted from the unfortunate sleeping arrangements on the ferry (as there weren't any) and there was cold air blowing the whole night. We were like zombies but glad to get settled for the next 2 nights until we could get on the boat and wait for the others. It just so happened that as we were going up to our room I ran into some clean cut American boys in the hall. I thought it my head, 'they look Mormon' and sure enough Mike asked them where they were from, 'utah' and if they were, and they were. So we had some buddies. Bryce had served his mission in Ukraine and he and his dad and his brother were there doing an Eastern European tour. They were great fun to have around. They asked if we wanted to head up to the Parthenon, so we showered and got ourselves energized and here the Athens portion of the trip began. Oh wait, there is one funny story. Mike called Christos to let him know we were in a Hostel in Athens and would meet him on Monday and he said, "What, you're in a HOSPITAL in Athens!" I thought it was really funny.
