Sunday in Athens

Since there was a whole crew of us Mormons, and we now had some missionaries to escort us, we headed to church. It was held in the 5th floor of that building behind us. There seemed to be more people from everywhere besides Greece but it was a cool Branch and maybe 10 minute walk from our hotel. What a find...and the only room we even came across.

After church we had a feed (polynesian style almost) with our friends. Yes, that's a treat platter in Greece...sausages, chicken skewers, beef patties, and fries with some aoli galore. I also began my love affair with the Greek Salad.

We parted with ways with our Utah friends walked around the city. Actually I think we took a monster Sunday nap and went back out later for a walk. This square has a different market in it all the time. This night was flowers.

A night shot of the Parthenon...held on top of a parked car for a steady gaze. We walked all over the city centre that night now that I am recalling. We walked all the way on the other side of the historic mount where we found this amazing book fair...all in Greek, but still. I thought of purchasing a whole illustraed version of the Greek Myths for our kids but for some reason Mike doesn't think they'll ever learn Greek....hmmmm. Well maybe they would if they had those books. And then we walked down this very buzzy street with performers, cafes galore, and snazzy restaurants, all lit under the street lights. Great walk and then back to the hotel for some cool aired sleep. Posted by Picasa
