Our Reindeer

 

Thanks to Joy and her eye for serious deals, our boy was a Reindeer this year for Halloween. I think it was $3.99 after Christmas last year and it was pretty cute. It took a little to get him into it but once he saw the other kids dressed up and related it to the acquisition of candy, he was game. We had a trunk or treat party on Friday night and then the family got together for a potato soup potluck and some more trick or treating. We got a bit of snow over the weekend which is still lingering so the kids had to either wear warm costumes or wear them over their jackets. I think he was more excited (and confused) than we have ever seen him. I wish I had a video of him saying "Trick or Treat", it was cool.

Tragerhose: wearing pants

We received these woolen overalls in the mail today from kiwi-grandma liz or kima. Basically anything with 2 syllables he'll say in some form so Mike came up with this. Anyway, I saw these very same tragerhose (Leilani told me that means wearing pants in German) at a boutique in Woodstock last year and thought they were pretty sweet. They are super soft. He looked so European to me, today. I guess his name is Lars. Makes me smile.

eyeballs is getting a tooth

my brother calls him eyeballs and he sure has some. he is getting his first tooth--just starting to come through and i found myself feeling like he was going to college or something but i guess in baby stages, it is a big one. he has also been snacking on toast with marmite and seems to like it--he is a little kiwi

Randoms.

I was cleaning up my hard drive and found some pix to share. Some are from Easter and some are from a few weeks back at another family dinner. There are also a couple of my niece at her dance recital of "Peter Pan" where she played a lost boy. She is a talented little dancer.

I don't have time to write anything, just enjoy the pix.

The last week he has been using his head to leverage his body in lunges across the floor but he has sort of moved out of that and is actually nearly crawling--

8 month.

He's on the move--not fully crawling but he is also quite bouncy lately and generally always moving. He can sit up fine but due to his constant movement, he doesn't stay sitting very long but he can do it. He is talking more and more, lots of "ma mas" and "ba bas" and lots of raspberries and little spitting fits. His hair is filling in all around his head and he continues to sleep pretty well but he has a little cold now so he's stuffy and the nights haven't been so smooth. Mike is amazing in the nights. Actually, this week he slept up in his own room in his crib a few nights. I had the first night of 7 straight hours of sleep in a year and a half. I actually forgot what it was like to have dreams--ones that can be quite involved and strange--deep REM sleep. He feels solid to me but I don't know how much he weighs. We have a check up in a month. He has an ability to find any little scrap of paper in any crevice--excellent little vacuum. He lights up with the sweetest smile and flirty kinda laugh whenever Mike walks in the room--my favorite.

He is such a sweet boy.
