Her birthday was nearly a month ago now. Here are a few pix from the day. Lani & Rob were visiting for the weekend so we got them to take a few fleeting family pix for us by all the wood that is going to keep us toasty this winter. We still have half of it to stack. Later in the afternoon, our friends brought their little girl over to celebrate with some homemade pizza and cupcakes. Nothing fancy but a fun day to celebrate us making it through her first year. First years are tough and, pat on the back, we did it :)

Crazy cupcake eyes.
On Easter weekend we went to a little party for our friends' one year old. Our boy hovered by the cupcakes until it was dessert time and then he chowed down. I love his crazy eyes in the last picture. This week he has been saying "Check it out" and "Awesome" very clearly and he has become very into monster trucks. We found this little documentary about racing them and he's been digging it. When he runs around, he puts his head and holds his hands out and that's when he is being a "monsuh twuck". Also, he has a place mat of the world and I've showed him where New Zealand is and we talk about who lives there. He also knows that Lucy lives in Australia and then he knows we live in USA. He also knows Russia but he likes to get into a little fight saying that the USA is Russia. Funny.
Our girl is rolling all over the place and saying lots of "mamamamamamas" and has just started sitting up by herself but she doesn't stay there long. She's been eating avocados, bananas, pears, apples, peas, and sweet potatoes. Some nights she sleeps great and then other nights, she is up a little more than I would prefer but she's getting there and she's just too cute.
We've been a sick family the last few weeks. I can't seem to kick it and am waffling between the cold and flu. Blaaaaah. On Sunday both Mike and I were out and it was hard having two small children with two parents who could barely keep their heads up but the weather is warming, the kids are delicious, and we are getting super excited for all of our May visitors!

Future besties
This past weekend our good friends from Brooklyn came up with their daughter so our girls could meet! She was born one month after ours but is just a little bit bigger ;) They were fast friends. We spent the weekend eating some of the yummy recipes Mike and I have been perfecting--mainly Mike. He makes the most amazing crispy fried chicken. Then we made lots shakes and watched the second season of Dowton Abbey (i tried to temper my Bate hate but he is soooooooo blah).
Headed to Boston this weekend to pick up Joy and spend time with all the girls celebrating her 40th oh and watching the Oscars. The boys are staying home for a weekend of boy time. Mike is so excited!

family of four.

We had a busy weekend. We gathered to celebrate our little girl's blessing and our family of four. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so many amazing friends and family. Also thanks to Leilani for taking some new family pictures of us. Pictures with a toddler and a newborn may possibly be one of the harder combinations but we got a few. And that little outfit was specially picked by Grandma Lizzie and Grammie Chazzie special for her blessing.

new jersey, friends, birthdays, food, and fun
We took a little summer vacay and headed south to see our friends in New Jersey over the weekend. Our boy was amazing on the long car trip and was so excited as we drove by Newark airport and spotted all the planes. Apparently all he needs is a little knight's helmet. I would say that Mike had a fantastic birthday weekend and our boy was in heaven with all the new games, toys, and willing kids to play WITH him. Plus, we had babysitting and took full advantage of that. I don't have pictures of everything but besides biking, beaching, relaxing, and fridge installing we also went out for really good Italian and Thai and of course 5 Guys. Mike was in heaven, I do believe. AND we picked up a vacuum for $49 that is awesome and now I can't stop vacuuming my life. But the topper was the amazing Kiwi cake made by our very own Cake Boss, Sara.
It was a stellar weekend.
He loved this car.
